Ron Pernick

Ron Pernick is co-founder and managing director of clean-tech research firm Clean Edge, Inc. and co-author of The Clean Tech Revolution (HarperCollins). USA Today called The Clean Tech Revolution “one of the few instances in this genre that shows the green movement not in heartstring terms but as economically profitable” and Harvard Business Review called it “an accessible and detailed survey of the major technologies and players.” His forthcoming book, Clean Tech Nation, is scheduled for publication in September, 2012.

Over the past three decades, Ron has worked actively within three major technology waves: telecommunications, the Internet, and now, clean technology.

At Clean Edge he has co-authored more than two dozen reports on emerging clean technologies and has worked with a range of clients including multinationals, start-ups, investors, and government agencies. Ron oversees the creation of the company’s clean-tech benchmarking tools and indexing services and the co-production of the annual Clean-Tech Investor Summit.

Prior to founding Clean Edge, he ran his own consulting practice and helped build the brands of such Internet pioneers as Internet In A Box, Global Network Navigator (GNN), Preview Travel (which later merged with Travelocity), and Yahoo! Earlier, he worked in the U.S. and Japan, serving a range of telecom and consumer electronics companies, including EDS and Sharp.

Ron is widely quoted in the mainstream business and technology media, has taught MBA-level courses at Portland State University and New College, and lectures regularly at industry events.
